PBS has made an incredibly positive impact on our school's culture and climate. The reduction of office referrals and behavioral problems has paved the way for us to dedicate more time towards academics. - Wendy Herrera Principal, Orange-Ridge Bullock What is Positive Behavior Support? Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a collaborative, assessment-based approach to developing effective interventions for problem behavior. PBS emphasizes the use of proactive, educative, and reinforcement-based strategies to achieve meaningful and durable behavior and lifestyle changes for all students. Beginning in the 2005-2006 academic year, The School District of Manatee County began to partner with the Florida PBS project through the Department of Child and Family Studies of the Louis de la Parte Institute at the University of South Florida. In the past two years our district has added eight new PBS schools with plans to bring an additional three schools on-board beginning in the 2008-'09 year. Do You Know StudentsWhose Behaviors...
