HealthVantage, the School District of Manatee County´s employee wellness program, offers health promotion and wellness programs for all of our employees. Maintaining and promoting employee and student health is essential to achieve the District´s mission of inspiring students to learn, dream and achieve. HealthVantage offers a variety of services including group exercise and weight management programs, an employee fitness center, preventative screenings and wellness consultations, on-site employee flu shots, wellness education (seminars and special events), tobacco cessations programs, and District-wide fitness and nutrition challenges! The funding for the HealthVantage Wellness Program is not paid through District operating fund dollars. All funding comes from the federal government by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) through their Retiree Drug Subsidy Program. It is estimated our District will receive over $600,000 during a three year period. In early 2008, the School Board approved the use of these funds for the development and implementation of a comprehensive Employee Wellness Program. We are excited about the many opportunities we have to promote health and wellness during this next school year!
