2010 Choose to Move Physical Activity Challenge
April 19 - May 16 (4 weeks)
Regular physical activity is important for good health, and it´s especially important if you´re trying to lose weight or to maintain a healthy weight. Plus, evidence shows the only way to maintain weight loss is to be engaged in regular physical activity.
Research has proven that regular physical activity reduces an individual´s overall risk for heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, some cancers, depression, and obesity.
The Challenge:
The U.S. Surgeon General recommends that you should exercise 30 minutes a day for at least 5 days a week. The good news is that the 30 minutes of moderate physical activity does not have to be all at one time. This Challenge will award you for incorporating 10 minute intervals of sustained physical activity over the course of the day. The personal scoresheet describes what types of physical activities qualify for points.
You will find that it is easy to incorporate 10-minute intervals of physical activity throughout your day. If you are currently living a relatively sedentary lifestyle, this is the PERFECT Challenge for you to ramp up your activity levels.
How to Get Started:
Step 1:
Register for this Challenge by emailing: dickersonk@manateeschools.net or calling Kristi Dickerson at 708-8770 ext. 2249 with the following information:
You will receive an email confirmation that you are officially registered for the Challenge.
Step 2:
Download and print the following two documents:
1. PERSONAL SCORESHEET (print four copies - one for each week of Challenge)

Step 3:
Begin tracking your daily activities on Monday, April 19.
Step 4: End of the Challenge
Email, fax, or courier your:
Four (4) PERSONAL SCORESHEETS; and SUMMARY SHEET to Kristi Dickerson after May 16, 2010. Deadline to submit: Thursday, May 20.
What You Can Win*
Gold Award: $75.00 = 6 points a day/5 days a week
Silver Award: $50.00 = minimum 3 points a day/5 days a week
Bronze Award: $25.00 = minimum 3 points a day/3 days a week
