CANES RANKED No. 1

Click to Enlarge (Bradenton, FL. - September 11, 2012) For the second week in a row, the Manatee High School Hurricanes football team was ranked the No. 1 prep football team in the nation when USA Today released its national Top 25 poll on Tuesday, September 11, 2012.

The Hurricanes, who won the Class 7A state title in 2011, returned a roster full of outstanding prospects and have showcased their dominance this season by jumping out to a 2-0 start, including an overwhelming 41-6 win against a powerful team from Miramar High 41-6 in a game that was nationally televised on ESPN.

In December 2011, Manatee High won its fifth state football championship under Hall of Fame head coach Joe Kinnan when the Hurricanes blanked Jacksonville First Coast 40-0 in Orlando´s Citrus Bowl.

In addition, it was announced on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 that the Palmetto High School Tigers football team was ranked No. 1 in the Class 5A state poll, while the Manatee Hurricanes held onto their spot at the No. 1 ranked team in Class 7A.
