The Stewart Olympics begin with a parade of nations at 8:45 a.m. and are followed by a day of athletic events and activities. AN EVENING OF ART & DANCE DISPLAYS STUDENT TALENT AT BAYSHORE HIGH The artistic talents of students at Bayshore High School will be on display Friday, May 16, 2008 when the school hosts “An Evening of Art & Dance.” Works of art will be showcased in the school´s media center from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Then, at 7 p.m., the Bayshore High Dance Department will present "Wild About Dance" in the school´s auditorium. BAYSHORE ELEMENTARY READY TO TAKE PART IN SATURDAY´S RELAY FOR LIFE Students and staff at Bayshore Elementary School will be participating as a team in the American Cancer Society´s Relay for Life on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at G.T. Bray Park in Bradenton. The school has already raised nearly $5,000 for the American Cancer Society and will celebrate its participation with an assembly at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2008, at the school. DISTRICT HONORS ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS OF ESOL AND MIGRANT STUDENTS The 22nd Annual Migrant Education Awards Ceremony will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the Bradenton Auditorium. Always one of the highlights of the school year, this ceremony honors graduating seniors, rising juniors and the families of students who have taken part in the district´s English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and Migrant academic programs. AMER-I-CAN GRADUATION CEREMONY SET FOR TUESDAY AT BRADEN RIVER The School Board of Manatee County will hold the second Ameri-I-Can graduation program for this school year on May 20, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. in the auditorium at Braden River High School. Originally initiated by NFL Hall of Famer Jim Brown, Amer-I-Can is a nationally recognized project that teaches young people positive self esteem and life management skills. Amer-I-Can programs were initiated this school year at Harllee, Johnson, Lincoln and Sugg Middle Schools. Facilitators at each of those schools work with students each day for a full semester, while three full-time "Peace Squad Leaders" take the Amer-I-Can message into the surrounding community.
