Approval of Use of State of Florida Contract on Comprehensive Energy Strategy for Efficiency Services and Lighting Upgrades, MCSD No. 04-0103-ML Approved of the use of the State of Florida Contract on Comprehensive Energy Strategy for Energy Efficiency Services and Lighting Upgrades for Braden River Middle School, Orange Ridge Elementary School and Johnson Middle School, from FPL Services, LLC, Florida Document No. L02000008692, in an amount not to exceed $324,950.00. The requested expenditures will be charged to Braden River Middle School - $143,650.00; Orange Ridge Elementary School - $91,300.00; and Johnson Middle School - $90,000.00. Approval of the Use of State of Florida Contract for the Purchase of Office Furniture, MCSD No. 04-0104-ML Approved the purchase of office furniture utilizing the State of Florida Department of Management Services purchasing contract, as required, for the period of April 1, 2004 through March 31, 2005, from various vendors, in an amount not to exceed $500,000.00. The expenditures will be charged to various General Operating and Capital Outlay Accounts. Contracts and Grants 1. Approved of Elementary “J” School Site - Agreement for Purchase of Property. The property consists of approximately 22 acres located east of Lorraine Road. The site will take access from a road which will be constructed by Schroeder Manatee Ranch and is currently referred to as the east/west connector road. The school will be immediately adjacent to and east of a public park. The entire 22 acres consists of upland areas and is usable for construction of an elementary school. Staff has negotiated the acquisition of this site with Schroeder Manatee Ranch, Inc. Impact fee credits will be provided to Schroeder Manatee Ranch, Inc., for the full value of the property based on the average of two appraisals obtained by the School Board. Approved of Electa Arcotte Lee Middle School - Concreteable Grant Project - Agreement Between Owner and Architect/Engineer (Fawley Bryant Architects, Inc.). The fee for Architect/Engineer services for the project is $34,125.00, which is included in the total project budget of $750,000.00. 3. Approved of Electa Arcotte Lee Middle School - Concreteable Grant Project - State-Funded Subgrant Agreement #04-RC-11-08-51-03-020. The total project budget is $750,000.00. The State of Florida Department of Community Affairs grant will provide $280,000.00 to install concretables at an existing emergency shelter. Approved of the agreement between the School Board of Manatee County and Winkler & Freeman Orthodontics for clinical experience for students in health occupation fields at Manatee Technical Institute (MTI) for the 2003-2004 school year. 5. Approved of the agreement between the School Board of Manatee County and Kirkland Dental Arts for clinical experience for students in health occupation fields at Manatee Technical Institute (MTI) for the 2003-2004 school year. 6. Approved to submit the Elementary School Reading Coach Grant Application for the 2004-2005 school year. This grant application requests the hiring of reading coaches for 16 elementary schools in Manatee County. The schools included are: Ballard, Bayshore, Blackburn, Daughtrey, Kinnan, Manatee, Myakka City, Moody, Oneco, Orange Ridge/Bullock, Palm View, Palmetto, Rowlett, Samoset, Tillman and Wakeland Elementary Schools. The total of $990,819.00 would pay for reading coaches for the 16 elementary schools. This amount includes salaries, fringe benefits, training, materials, and travel for the reading coaches for the 2004-05 school year. No matching funds are required. 7. Approved to submit the Middle School Reading Coach Grant Application for the 2004-2005 school year. This grant application requests the hiring of reading coaches for middle schools in Manatee County for the 2004-05 school year. The schools included are: Harllee, Horizons, Johnson, Lincoln, and Sugg Middle Schools; Police Athletic League; and Center Academy. The total of $416,620.00 would pay for reading coaches for the schools listed above. This amount includes salaries, fringe benefits, training, materials, and travel for the reading coaches. No matching funds are required. |
