8.   Approved of the Weller Foundation Grant Application, and approved to accept and expend grant funds through February 15, 2005. “Building America Through Song” is the fifth grade project at Gene Witt Elementary School. The school will receive $4,438.00 to purchase instructional materials.

9.    Approved of the Sarasota Bay National Estuary Program-Florida Yards and Neighborhoods Grant application, effective October 1, 2004 through April 15, 2005. Ballard Elementary will receive up to $2,000.00 if the grant is funded.

10.    Approved to accept and expend fiscal year 2003 roll forward funds for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part B Preschool Grant for the 2003-2004 school year. The district will receive $293,119.70 in roll forward funds for a total of $637,494.70 from the IDEA Part B Preschool Grant.

Construction Service

1.    Approved of Bayshore Elementary School - Change Orders 1 and 2. Change Order 1 is a reduction to the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) of $927,996.92 for materials purchased under the Direct Materials Purchase Program; Change Order 2 is a reduction to the GMP of $55,432.28 for the sales tax savings associated with the Direct Materials Purchase program. Fiscal impact is a deduction of $983,429.20 to the previous $12,414,059.00 Guaranteed Maximum Price.

2.    Approved of Blanche H. Daughtrey, Jessie P. Miller, Manatee, and Palma Sola Elementary Schools - Authorization to Negotiate for Architect/Engineer. The interviewed firms were ranked as follows: Number One Firm: Holmes Hepner and Associates Architects; Number Two Firm: Long and Associates, Inc.; Number Three Firm: Ranon and Partners, Inc.; Number Four Firm: Reynolds, Smith, and Hills; Number Five Firm: Harvard Jolly Clees Toppe Architects. The Selection Committee voted to assign one project to each of the top four ranked firms as follows: Holmes Hepner and Associates Architects - Jessie P. Miller Elementary School; Long and Associates, Inc. - Palma Sola Elementary School; Ranon and Partners, Inc. - Blanche H. 4.    Approved of Comprehensive Safety Inspection Reports for Fiscal Year 2003-2004.

5.    Approved of Electa Arcotte Lee Middle School - Concreteable Grant Project - Phase I Plans - Schematic Design. There is no fiscal impact. The budget for this project is $750,000.00.

6.    Approved of Elementary School “J” - Authorization to Negotiate for Architect/Engineer. The interviewed firms were ranked as follows: Number One Firm: Harvard Jolly Clees Toppe; Number Two Firm: SchenkelShultz; Number Three Firm: Fawley Bryant Architects. 10.    Approved of School Support Center - Generator Project - Phase III Plans - Construction Documents. There is no fiscal impact. The budget for this project is $100,000.00.
