APPROVAL OF AMENDMENT TO THE SUPERINTENDENT'S CONTRACT - (Continued)

C. On or before July 31st each year every Board Member will be given an Evaluation Rating Sheet so that each goal can be rated as to whether or not it has been successfully completed to the Board Member's satisfaction.

D. The School Board Chairperson will be responsible for compiling the overall ratings of each goal, based upon the Rating Sheets submitted by all Board Members. Each goal will be rated as “Successfully met” or “Not Successfully met”, based upon a majority consensus as determined by the individually submitted Rating Sheets.

E. Upon receiving an overall satisfactory job performance rating, the Superintendent will be eligible to receive up to a 5% supplement (based upon the current annual base salary) for the successful completion of the goals, based upon the compilation of the individual Evaluation Rating Sheets. The superintendent shall be eligible for such supplement each year beginning in the 04-05 fiscal year. This Supplement is not intended to be, and shall not be a permanent adjustment to the Superintendent's annual base salary.

F. Each goal will have an “equal weighted value” in determining the portion of the 5% Performance Supplement earned by the Superintendent. Successful completion of all goals would earn the full 5% Performance Supplement.

G. No later than August 15th the School Board will take action, at a regular meeting, on confirming the Evaluation Rating Sheet as compiled by the School Board Chairperson.

H. On or before September 31st the Superintendent will receive a Performance Supplement based upon the successful completion of the goals for the previous fiscal year.

APPROVAL OF NEW POSITION OF MANAGER, FACILITY, SITE AND PLANNING

The School Board recently entered into an Interlocal Agreement with Manatee County and four municipalities. The Interlocal Agreement is required under portions of Chapter 1013 Florida Statutes and requires extensive coordination between the entities. In addition, the promises made during the sales tax campaign have significantly increased the workload for planning staff. There is insufficient staff to maintain the current workload.

In December, 2003, the School Board approved a position entitled “Assistant Facilities Planner.” The position has been advertised three times, but has not been filled. Approval of this Manager, Facility, Site and Planning position would negate the current need for the Assistant Facilities Planner.

Board approval of the position is required before the position can be posted.

The annual salary range for the position is estimated to be $48,386.00 - $75,452.00. This salary range is located on the SAMP ((Supervisory, Administrative, Managerial and Professional) salary schedule used by the District.

Mr. Kinnan moved, with a second by Mr. Brunner, to approve the new position - Manager, Facility, Site and Planning. Motion carried 5-0.

There is no fiscal impact for the approval of the job description. The annual salary range for the position is estimated to be $30,156.00 - $47,858.00. This salary range is located on the SAMP (Supervisory, Administrative, Managerial and Professional) salary schedule used by the District.

The meetings will be noticed.

The Board concurred with Dr. Dearing.
