.Dr. Jeff Beard (parent of Lee Middle School student) - discussed the positive experience his daughter has had as a Lee Middle School student. He encouraged the Board to find a way within the School Choice Program to create an attendance requirement at Lee Middle School only for students interested in the arts, because students who are forced to attend the school and are not involved in the performing arts program create discipline situations.

.Amy Bradley (band director at Lee Middle School) - said although she is thrilled with Dr. Dearing's recommendation to limit the number of students zoned to Lee Middle School, she does not feel that this gesture is enough, because 110 students exercising School Choice have already been denied acceptance into Lee Middle School this year.

.Cynthia Curcio (resident of Glenbrook subdivision) - spoke in support of the Superintendent's redistricting proposal.

.Stephen Thompson (attorney representing [residents of] the Inlets, Riverdale and Riverpointe subdivisions) - spoke against Committee B's plan and in support of the Superintendent's recommended proposal, which he said really applies the standards and the criteria previously established by the School Board, by minimizing adverse impacts, avoids busing pockets, and recognizes natural boundaries.

.Jonathan Colon (former student of Lee Middle School and current freshmen at Lakewood Ranch High School) - discussed his positive experience with the program and teachers at Lee Middle School. He emphasized the importance of Lee Middle School having a student body based on students being where they want to be, involved in the arts (as opposed to having to attend there because of where they live).

.Maynard Boyce - said all three committee's plans split Bayshore Gardens in half, and the part of Bayshore Gardens that is being redistricted from Lee Middle School to Harllee Middle School is located within the two-mile radius of Harllee, so busing will not be available and the children will have to walk to Harllee and cross over U.S. 41 at Bayshore Parkway in unsafe conditions.

.Carole Lee (resident of Sabal Harbor subdivision) - spoke in opposition to any of the proposed redistricting plans because the elementary, middle and high school that her son was zoned to attend would be changed.
