Agenda Item #43

Title
Public Hearing for Consideration of Adopting Proposed New Rule 8.55, School Concurrency (tabled from 10-13-08)

Description

The purpose and effect of developing Rule 8.55 is to ensure that Florida Statutes, which now require School Districts to implement School Concurrency, is adopted as policy and procedure by the School Board.  Therefore, as part of the requirement, the School Board has entered into an interlocal agreement with local government agencies.  This interlocal agreement outlines procedures for school concurrency.  This policy formalizes the final determinations and procedures as required for implementation and maintenance of the School Concurrency Management System.

On September 8, 2008, the Board approved advertising the proposed new rule, Policy 8.55 and setting a public hearing.  On September 13, 2008, the advertisement appeared in The Bradenton Herald, which assures compliance with the provision of section 120.54 (3)(a)1, Florida Statutes (2007). In addition, the policy has been posted on the district website.
