Title
Approval to Submit, Accept and Expend the Title 1 School Improvement Grant for the 2008 – 2009 School Year

Description

The Title 1 Program received notification from the Florida Department of Education to submit the application for the Title 1 School Improvement Grants 1003(a) and 1003(g) in the amount of $632,163.42 for the 2008 – 2009 school year.  Manatee County School District is one of 67 districts eligible to apply for these funds based on the number of Title 1 Schools planning to restructure or are already restructured.

 

These funds will be used to support the implementation of the Differentiated Accountability Model and to increase the achievement of students scoring below proficiency in reading, mathematics and writing on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test in Title 1 schools identified as in need of improvement, corrective action or restructuring.   Extended time for instruction during summer, teacher and administrator training and collaborative curriculum alignment will be the major activities funded under this grant.

 

 

The Superintendent recommends approval to submit, accept and expend the Title 1 School Improvement Grant in the amount of $632,163.42, for the 2008 – 2009 school year.

Financial Impact

The district will receive $632,163.42 from the Title 1 School Improvement grant funds.  There will be no matching requirements.
