Agenda Item #21 Title Approval of the Contract Between the School District of Manatee County and Learning Focused Solutions, Inc., for the 2008 – 2009 School Year Description In an effort to provide leadership training and support for Title 1 schools, the Title 1 Program is contracting with Dr. Max Thompson’s Learning Focused Model of School Reform, Learning Focused Solutions, Inc. On September 23 and 24, 2008, Title 1 will provide Learning Focused Training for the remaining teachers who could not attend the summer training, to include all materials and sessions for this project. On November 19 and 20, 2008, Dr. Max Thompson will provide Monitoring for Achievement Training for district instructional staff and principals. Individual and group conferences will also be held with each principal. On July 14, 2008, the School Board approved the contract with Learning Focused Solutions, Inc., for staff development training, in the amount of $148,502.00. The Total amount for all contracts will be $166,327.00. The Superintendent recommends approval of the contract between the School District of Manatee County and Learning Focused Solutions, Inc., not to exceed $17,825.00, for the 2008 – 2009 school year. Financial Impact The total cost for this contract with Learning Focused Solutions, Inc., is $17,825.00, and will be paid from the Title 1, Part A, Basic and the Title 1 School Improvement Grant funds.
