Follett Destiny Library Manager™ combines circulation, cataloging, searching, reporting and management in one centrally installed library software system. The software links all the district’s media centers, giving real time information. Follett Destiny Library Manager™ was first purchased for our school district in 2003, and continues to serve the district expanding student access to library resources.

Florida Statutes Section 1010.04(4) states, “Alternative procedures for purchasing – The State Board of Education may, by regulation, provide for alternative procedures for bidding or purchasing in cases in which the character of the item requested renders competitive bidding impractical.”

State Board Rule 6A-1.012(10) states, “A district school board, when acquiring, whether by purchase, lease, lease with option to purchase, rental or otherwise, information technology resources, as defined in Section 282.303(13), Florida Statutes, may make any acquisition through the bid process as described herein or by direct negotiation and contract with a vendor or supplier, as best fits the needs of the school district as determined by the school board.”

The supplier is Follett Software Company, River Grove, Illinois, Florida Document No. F01000002923.

The Superintendent recommends approval to purchase Follett Destiny Library Manager™ Software Maintenance, Support, and Updates, as required, through September 30, 2010, in the amount of $104,706.39.
