Approval of Palmetto Elementary School - Amendment 3 - Agreement Between Owner and NDC Construction Company - Demolition of Old Palmetto Elementary School - p.47
Executive Summary
The purpose of the requested action is to approve Amendment 3 to the existing Agreement between Owner and NDC Construction Company for inclusion of the demolition of the old Palmetto Elementary School in the existing contract for the new Palmetto Elementary School. Buildings 11 and 12, located on the corner of 7th Street and 10th Avenue, will not be demolished at this time pending discussion with the City of Palmetto. The memorial bricks at the old Palmetto Elementary School will be removed and turned over to the Principal of the new Palmetto Elementary School. The site will be graded and hydro-seeded when demolition is completed. The Guaranteed Maximum Price specific to this scope of work will be $302,827.01, and will be funded from existing Unforeseen Conditions funds. Therefore, there is no increase to the project’s total Guaranteed Maximum Price.
The Department of Construction Services collaborated with the Southwest Florida Water Management District to obtain a general permit, insuring that the School District will retain approximately 3.5 acres of permanent impervious surface credits for those areas being razed. This will allow the District to devote less property for retention than would typically be required when a new school is eventually constructed on this site.
This is the first permit of its type issued by the Southwest Florida Water Management District. The School District recently purchased 1.64 acres of adjacent property for $1,393,000.00; therefore, staff believes that the credit provided has a value in excess of $2,750,000.00.
