On November 12, 2008 the School Board of Manatee County approved the Superintendent's Employment Contract.  Mr. McGonegal has requested two changes to the contract:

1. Section 10.6 provides that the Superintendent earns twelve (12) days of sick leave per year and unused sick leave shall be payable at the end of the fiscal year at a rate of eighty percent (80%). Effective immediately this provision will be changed to a rate of fifty percent (50%).
2. Section 10.2 provides that the Superintendent shall receive an increase in base salary equal to the percentage of pay increase including step increases, if any, approved by the board for other administrative employees of the district. The Superintendent is requesting that this provision be eliminated.

The Superintendent recommends approval of second amendment to Agreement between the School Board of Manatee County and Timothy McGonegal for the services of Superintendent of Schools.

The fiscal impact to approve the second amendment to Agreement is a savings of $6,135.76. This includes $3,426.01 savings for elimination of step increase and $2,709.75 savings for the reduction in sick leave payout. The fiscal impact stated includes salary, retirement and Federal Medicare taxes.
