Title
Academic Industry Certification Funding Recognitions - p.17

Executive Summary

We are here this evening to present a check to the High School Academies worth over $200,000.00. This amount represents a combined effort by 10 high school academies; an increase of approximately $180,000.00 over last year. These funds are made possible through the 2008 state legislation which recognizes Career and Professional Education (CAPE) Academies that provide students the opportunity to earn industry credentials, adding value to their high school education, employment competitiveness and technical skill attainment.

The CAPE academies receive approximately $1,108.00 for each graduating senior receiving an industry certification. In this case 185 graduating academy students successfully earned certifications. These funds will be used for the classroom certifying materials, equipment and future industry certification testing costs.

We congratulate the team of instructors who have helped to make this possible as well as the students in their programs.
