Oneco Elementary, Bayshore Elementary, Samoset Elementary and McNeal Elementary Schools  request permission to purchase SuccessMaker and Waterford Software Maintenance and Support Subscription Renewals.  The SuccessMaker renewal amount for Oneco Elementary is $6,985.00, to include 5 full curriculum Reading and Math concurrent licenses and one Waterford cumulative license.  The SuccessMaker renewal amount for McNeal Elementary is $5,359.10, to include one Waterford cumulative license.  The SuccessMaker renewal amount for Bayshore Elementary is $2,300.90, and the SuccessMaker renewal amount for Samoset Elementary is $4,000.00, for a total of $18,645.00. 

The Successmaker renewal will provide an ongoing educational software program for grades K-8 that provides standards aligned, research-based instruction in reading and math.  This software curriculum provides learners with adaptive, personalized paths for mastery of essential reading and math concepts and delivers outcome-based data to inform instruction.

The Waterford Early Reading Program renewal will provide ongoing  supplemental academic support in the Reading skills of Phonics, Comprehension, Vocabulary Development, Language Concepts and Phonological Awareness for students.  

In the School District of Manatee County (the District), standards and benchmarks have been adapted that align with the core values, strategic objectives, National and Sunshine State Standards and, where needed, additional standards and benchmarks have been developed in order to ensure that students are learning the knowledge skills and attitudes required to achieve the strategic objectives. 

Professional development experiences mirror student learning in that they include discovery, exploratory problem-solving and self-educating techniques to improve student performance so that the mission, core values, and strategic objectives are reflected in every classroom.

The Superintendent recommends approval of the SuccessMaker and Waterford Renewal Support Between the School Board of Manatee County and NCS Pearson, Inc., for the 2010 - 2011 School Year.

The estimated cost to implement this agenda item will not exceed $18,645.00. $5,359.10 will be paid from Title 1 Migrant funds, $2,300.90 will be paid from Title III funds, and $10,985.00 will be paid from Title 1 Basic program funds. The total cost for the renewals with NCS Pearson for the 2010 – 2011 school year will not exceed $325,227.00.  The main funding source for this annually estimated expenditure is Title 1 Part A, Basic programs funds, and is included in the Federal Programs and Grants Department approved budget.
