Approval of the Contract Between the School Board of Manatee County and NCS Pearson Inc for the 2011 - 2012 School Year for Seven Title One Elementary Schools - p.26
Executive Summary
The Waterford Early Reading Program is a supplemental academic program that will provide support. Students in Title 1 Schools typically enter one or two years behind their peers in non-Title 1 schools. This program will assist teachers in closing the achievement gap for these students prior to third grade, thus providing assurance of schools attaining Adequate Yearly Progress.
The total contract will be $227,904.70 for the Waterford Early Reading Program Levels 1,2 and 3 concurrent licenses, and will provide 42 days of site-based/district training, student materials, software maintenance, support, and software integration on the server.
The implementation of the Waterford Early Reading program assists students in achieving the strategic objectives in Edvantage and the mission of the district.
The Superintendent recommends approval of the contract between the School Board of Manatee County and NCS Pearson Inc for the 2011 – 2012 school year for seven Title One elementary schools.

Financial Impact
The estimated cost to implement this agenda item will not exceed $227,904.70.00. Total expenditures to NCS Pearson for the 2011 – 2012 school year, will not exceed $617,183.00. The funding source for this annually estimated expenditure is Title 1 Part A, Basic programs funds, and is included in the Federal Programs and Grants Department approved budget.
