Executive Summary
Since the beginning of the school year, Bob Gagnon, Principal of Manatee High School, has been working with a dedicated and brilliant group of students to establish an extra-curricular club to generate interest and enthusiasm. The African American Culture Arts Club has been established and has its governing body and charter in place.
The African American Culture Arts Club has three departments, Music, Dance and Speech/Literature, led by very talented students. The long-term plan is to move the activities from extra-curricular to curricular (course offerings) available to all students, within the school day. This would be possible once more students become interested in related course offerings in music, dance and speech/literature.
Several students will show case their hard work and talent with short performances.
Lynette Edwards, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, will announce Mr. Gagnon.
