Agenda Item #10

Title
Academic Industry Certification Funding Recognitions

Executive Summary

The Adult, Career and Technical Education (ACT) teachers, academy staff, and students earned over $350,000.00 this year.  These funds are made possible through the 2008 state legislation which recognizes Career and Professional Education (CAPE) Academies that provide students the opportunity to earn industry credentials, adding value to their high school education, employment competitiveness and technical skill attainment.

The CAPE Academies receive funds for each graduating senior receiving an industry certification.   In this case 334 graduating academy students successfully earned industry certifications.  These funds will be used for the classroom certifying materials, equipment, future industry certification testing costs, and Smaller Learning Community (SLC) costs related to CAPE industry certifications.

We congratulate the team of instructors who have helped to make this possible, as well as the students in their programs.  Doug Wagner and Angie Grasberger will make the check presentations.

Present here this evening to accept the checks are the Principals, Academy Leads and the SLC staff from the following programs.
