Executive Summary
The School Board of Manatee County received an annual appropriation of federal funds to provide supplemental services for students with disaiblities.
The IDEA Part B, Entitlement 2010-2011 budget includes funds for the following positions: teachers (11.1 Full Time Equivalency), interpreters (5), job coach (1), teacher aides (114), teacher assistants (4), social workers (4.13), school health coordinator (.3), nurses (5.95), health aides (5), psychologists (9.56), parent support specialist (.6), home school liaison (1), speech pathologists (1.13), Exceptional Student Education or ESE coordinators (3.2), ESE curriculum specialist (1), ESE specialists (10.5), research coordinator (.25), clerical assistants (4), secretaries (4), junior accountant (.8), LAN specialist (1), transportation route specialist (1), and bus monitors (59). In addition, the annual budget includes funds for substitute teachers and benefits for all of the above positions.
The IDEA Part B, Preschool Entitlement 2010-2011 budget includes funds for the following positions: teacher aide (.5), social worker (.5), nurse (.25), psychologist (.5), home school liaison (.6), speech pathologists (1.1), ESE specialist (.6), and a secretary (.8). In addition, the annual budget includes benefits for all of the above positions and set-aside funds for approved parentally placed private school student services.
The Superintendent recommends approval to apply, accept and expend the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part B and Preschool Entitlement Grant application for the fiscal year 2010-2011 through the end of the grant period June 30, 2011.

The Superintendent recommends approval to apply, accept and expend the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part B and Preschool Entitlement Grant application for the fiscal year 2010-2011 through the end of the grant period June 30, 2011.
Financial Impact
The allocation for the IDEA Part B, Entitlement for 2010-2011 is $9,496,284.00.
The Allocation for the IDEA Part B, Preschool Entitlement for 2010-2011 is $304,725.00.
The District will receive a total of $9,801,009.00 from the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part B and Preschool Entitlement Grant for the fiscal year 2010-2011 through the end of the grant period June 30, 2011.
