The District has been providing school bus transportation services to the Renaissance Arts and Education, Inc., d/b/a Manatee School For the Arts Charter School for several years.  District Charter Schools which request that the District provide school bus transportation services must enter into a contractual agreement with the School Board of Manatee County for those services.  The contract is attached.

The Finance Department has reviewed the cost for these services and has recommended the rate and terms reflected in the contract.  By its renewal of this contract, the District is providing support for the efforts of parents and students who choose to attend Charter schools.

The Superintendent recommends approval of the renewal of the transportation agreement between the School Board of Manatee County and the Renaissance Arts and Education, Inc. d/b/a Manatee School For the Arts Charter School for school bus transportation services for the 2010-2011 school year.

Motion and approval of the renewal of the transportation agreement between the School Board of Manatee County and the Renaissance Arts and Education, Inc. d/b/a Manatee School For the Arts Charter School for school bus transportation services for the 2010-2011 school year.

The Renaissance Arts and Education, Inc., d/b/a Manatee School for The Arts Charter School will pay $16.55 per hour each day of service for the salary of the operator and, if the Transportation Department determines that a attendant/aide is necessary, $11.95 per hour for the salary of the school bus attendant/aide.  The Charter School will also pay $1.66 per mile traveled to cover bus-operating expenses.
