Approval of Request to Declare Surplus and Sell Portable #819 to Restoration Fellowship - p.81

Executive Summary

A request by Restoration Fellowship, Sarasota, has been submitted for the consideration of transferring a portable for classroom and office space. The Districts Maintenance and Operations Department has identified portable #819 for the transfer. The Portable will be sold to Restoration Fellowship, as is, for a one time fee of one dollar ($1.00). Restoration Fellowship agrees to incur all costs as a result of the removal and relocation. Restoration Fellowship also agrees the removal will occur no later than September 16th, 2010. The District will be responsible for all service disconnects required for the removal.

This portable is currently utilized as a temporary office space for the Transportation Department during the Matzke Modernization Project. The above described property has been determined to be unnecessary for educational purposes.

School Board of Manatee County Policy No. 7.1, Sale, Transfer or Disposal of Real or Tangible Personal Property, outlines the procedures to be followed in the acquisition, supervision, accountability, control, transfer and disposal of the District’s property.

Items are declared surplus in order to remove them from inventory accountability at the present Cost Center, and dispose of them as provided for in Florida Statute 274. Disposition may involve any of the following: sale by public auction, sale or transfer to another governmental entity, scrap for reusable parts, donation to a School Board designated receiver, or abandonment at a public landfill and may be disposed of in the most efficient and cost-effective means as determined by the governmental unit.
