
Agenda Item #29 Title Approval to Renew the State of Florida Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program and School Readiness Services Provider Agreement Between the SBMC and the Early Learning Coalition of Manatee County for the 2009-2010 School Year - p.39 Executive Summary Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) is a state-wide program open to all Florida children who meet age and residency requirements. The District has participated in VPK during 2005-2009 school years, providing a 540 hour education program at selected elementary schools, three high schools and Manatee Technical Institute. In addition, the 300 hour summer VPK program was also offered. The Statewide Provider Agreement describes the program requirements such as students’ eligibility, attendance, compensated and monitoring, and other terms of agreement between the School Board and the Early Learning Coalition. The School Readiness Agreement provides before and after school program funding for participating students. The specific sites for which this Agreement is applicable are listed in the addendum. Copies of agreement and addendum are available in Rm. 503 for your review. The Superintendent recommends approval to renew the State of Recommendation Motion and approval to renew the State of Florida Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program and School Readiness Services Provider Agreement between the School Board of Manatee County and the Early Learning Coalition of Manatee County for the 2009-2010 school year. Financial Impact The District will receive funding based on the student enrollment in the VPK program and before and after school program, estimated funding for each student who completes the 540 hour school-year program or the 300 hour summer program, will be approximately $2,500.00 per student.
