These new positions in Innovative Programs and Parental Options are being created to provide guidance services for youth in Neglected and Delinquent facilities as required by Rule 6A-6.05281(5).  These positions must address academic re-entry goals, career and employment goals, and recommended education placement for students.

Programs under Title 1 are required to meet the educational needs of neglected, delinquent, and at-risk youth to assist these students with guidance services by ensuring that students re-enter an appropriate educational program, obtain employment and/or participate in post secondary education and job training programs.

The Superintendent recommends approval to hire one guidance counselor and one half-time reading specialist in Innovative Programs and Parental Options.

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan.  Length of the work year and hours of employment will be those established by the District.  Funding for these positions will be provided by Title 1, Part D; Sub Part II, Local Programs for Neglected and Delinquent approved by the Board on June 22, 2009.
