Approval to Purchase Catastrophic Student Accident Insurance Policy from United Healthcare Insurance Company - p.67

Executive Summary

Catastrophic Student Accident Insurance Coverage provides excess medical and disability insurance for all students in Grades 6 through 12 who are injured while participating in school sponsored athletic, band, color guard and dance activities.  The Florida High School Activities Association requires this coverage for students who participate in interscholastic sports and activities.  Minimum limits of $1,000,000.00 for medical expenses and $500,000.00 for total disability insurance are required. 

 

United Healthcare Insurance Company has agreed to provide the same coverage as last year, with a premium reduction of $1,975.00.

 

The Superintendent recommends approval to purchase Catastrophic Student Accident Insurance Policy from United Healthcare Company.



Recommendation

Motion and approval to purchase Catastrophic Student Accident Insurance Policy from United Healthcare Insurance Company.



Financial Impact

The premium for this policy is $28,525.00.  This is a $1,975.00 reduction from last year. The funds for these expenditures will be charged to the following Budgetary Accounts:  Risk Management Fund (5400), Catastrophic Student Accident Insurance (54001010000.4323.7790).
