Approval of Bid on Tires and Tire Recapping, MCSD No. 09-0066-SM - p.46

Executive Summary

The School District of Manatee County solicited vendors for bid on tires and tire recapping to secure fixed pricing for the district school buses. New and recapped tires are delivered and installed on our district buses by the vehicle maintenance department, saving the district money on outside services.

 

Invitations for bid were submitted to nineteen (19) suppliers.  The School District received four (4) responsive bids. The remaining fifteen (15) suppliers did not respond to our invitation for bid.  Bids were opened on Wednesday, February 18, 2009.

 

The bid is recommended for award to Callaghan Tires, Bradenton, Florida, Florida Document No. 558020, and Tire Center, LLC, Tampa, Florida, Florida Document not required.

 

The Superintendent recommends approval of the bid on tire and tire recapping through March 9, 2012, in an amount not to exceed $125,000.00 per year.

Motion and approval of the bid on tire and tire recapping through March 9, 2012, in an amount not to exceed $125,000.00 per year.



Financial Impact

The estimated expenditure for these purchases/services not to exceed $125,000.00 per year.  The requested expenditures will be charged to 41001010000.4560.7800.
