Approval of Proposal on Athletic Clay Field Maintenance, MCSD No. 12-0062-MR

Executive Summary

This bid is for the clay field maintenance program which was developed to improve safe play, increase utilization and improve aesthetics of the numerous clay fields throughout the District. The committee awarded to both responsive vendors.  Design Scapes of Manasota will handle high school fields and JSM Services will handle middle and elementary fields. Splitting the services saves the District $16,000.00 on this contract.

 

Invitations for bid were submitted to sixty-two (62) suppliers.  The School District received two (2) responsive bids and four (4) no bids. The remaining fifty-six (56) suppliers did not respond to our invitation for bid.  Bids were opened on March 20, 2012.

 

The bid is recommended for award to Design Scapes of Manasota, Sarasota, FL, Florida Document No. S32892 and JSM Services, Bartow, FL, Document No. P97000026982.

 

Athletic clay field maintenance is required to provide safe play fields in the District for student use.

 

The Superintendent recommends approval of the bid on athletic clay field maintenance, as required, for the period of April 24, 2012 through April 23, 2013, in an amount not to exceed $125,000.00.

Motion and approval of the bid on athletic clay field maintenance, as required, for the period of April 24, 2012 through April 23, 2013, in an amount not to exceed $125,000.00.

 



Financial Impact

The estimated cost to implement this agenda item will not exceed $125,000.00.  The funding source for this annually estimated expenditure is Local Capital Improvement Millage and is included in the Maintenance and Operations Department approved budget.
