Approval of the Use of the Polk County School District Bid on Liquefied Petroleum, Bid #003-MHH-0713, MCSD No. 13-0037-SM - p.26
The District uses liquefied petroleum (LP gas) to serve lunchroom kitchen equipment and to fuel boilers to generate hot water. The hot water is used to heat some facilities, and is a component part of the HVAC dehumidification process in certain system designs as required. The Polk County School District has entered into a term contract for liquefied petroleum with Amerigas Propane. Amerigas Propane has agreed to extend the same terms and conditions to the School District of Manatee County. The bid has been reviewed and found satisfactory to meet the needs of our district. A copy of the bid is on file in the District Purchasing Department.
Florida Statutes, Chapter 287.042(2) and the Rules of the State Board of Education, Chapter 6A-1.012(4) (6) exempt from competitive bid requirements those purchases made, under the provision of the State of Florida Department of Management Services contracts.
The Polk County School District has awarded their bid to Amerigas Propane, Palmetto, Florida, Florida Document No. F95000001368.
The Superintendent recommends approval of the use of the Polk County School District bid for liquefied petroleum, as required, through June 15, 2015, in an amount not to exceed $275,000.00 per year.

The estimated cost to implement this agenda item will not exceed $275,000.00 per year. The funding source for this expenditure is included in the Maintenance & Operations Department General Operating Funds and the Food Service Budget.
