
Agenda Item #40 Title Approval of Agreement Between the School Board of Manatee County and John Ray Consulting, LLC for Consultative Services and Representation in Governmental Affairs Executive Summary Approval of the agreement with John Ray Consulting, LLC will provide legislative strategies and advocacy in supports of its policy and funding agenda before the Florida Legislature – particularly the passage and maintenance of equitable funding for Florida’s district-based workforce education programs. Further, the consultant agrees to provide weekly progress updates on the status of policy and funding decisions relevant to the District’s legislative agenda. During the 2011 and 2012 Legislative Sessions, significant progress was made toward fully phasing-in the workload/equity funding model for technical schools. The Manatee School District has witnessed an annual increase of roughly $2M to its workforce development budget. The Superintendent recomments approval of the agreement between the School Board of Manatee County and John Ray Consulting, LLC for consultative services and representation in governmental affairs. Financial Impact The fiscal impact of the agreement with John Ray Consulting, LLC for consultative services is $20,000.00 for the period of December 10, 2012 through May 10, 2013 to be paid on a monthly basis ($4,000 per month).
