
Agenda Item #35 Title Approval to Apply, Accept and Expend Reinstated Continuing Resolution Funds of $3,100.00 for Carl D. Perkins Postsecondary Grant for the 2011-2012 School Year - p.50 Executive Summary As a result of a budget amendment, the School Board of Manatee County was awarded and approved to accept and expend $239,785.00 for school year 2011-12 for the Perkins Postsecondary grant funded by the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006. The District is now eligible for $3,100.00 in reinstated continuing resolution funds, which can be obtained through a second amendment. Receipt of the new funds will bring the award for 2011-12 to $242,885.00. This project supports the District’s Strategic Plan (Ed-Vantage) by helping students overcome barriers, set and attain goals, and participate in self-directed learning. The Superintendent recommends the Approval to Apply, Accept, and Expend reinstated continuing resolution funds of $3,100.00 for Carl D. Perkins Postsecondary Grant for the 2011-2012 school year. Financial Impact Most of the reinstated continuing resolution dollars will be spent in increased costs of capitalized equipment for instruction in post-secondary adult vocational programs and student travel to career and technical student organization conferences. A complete description of the amendment is reflected in the attached Department of Education forms 150 and 151. The total indirect costs received from the grant will increase by $52.00. Reinstated continuing resolution funds must be expended by June 30, 2012.
