Description:

Cinderella is one of the most well-known stories around the world. The earliest recorded version, Yeh-shen, is from ninth century China. The tale always centers around a kind heroine who is persecuted by members of her stepfamily after the death of her mother. There is a magical guardian who helps grant her a wish. The guardian is sometimes represented by her dead mother. The tale also usually involves an epiphany sparked by an article of clothing that causes the heroine's true worth to be recognized.
