There are more than 7,000 different kinds of apples in the world. Different kinds are called varieties.

Apples come in different sizes, colors, and shapes. Some are round, and some look like hearts.

Some apples are sweet, and some are tart. They taste different because they have different amounts of sugar.

The flesh can be hard or soft, and the skin can be thick or thin. Thin-skinned apples are easier to eat.

Some apples are better to eat for a snack, and some are better for making pies and apple sauce.
