Guidance Services

The mission of the BHS Guidance Services Department is to assist students in developing the competencies to live and to work effectively in a changing world. We encourage students to pursue life-long learning and to understand the relationship between coursework and career/work place skills; as well as, to relate college majors and other post secondary training to career choices. The services include but are not limited to:

• Academic planning and support

• College planning and resources

• Career planning and resources

• Scholarship and opportunity information

• Personal and social guidance

• Testing and test interpretation

• Community referral for individual and family counseling

Scholarship Opportunities

University of North Florida in Jacksonville has some awesome scholarships for seniors with ACT's 25 and above(or SAT's 1200 Reading and Math) and 3.5 recalculated GPA's! You have to APPLY to UNF by Nov 16th and complete an essay at www.unf.edu/scholarships to get in the running. If you are qualified APPLY APPLY APPLY!

Horation Alger Scholarship - If you have a 2.0 GPA, plan to get a 4 year degree and have critical financial need, please apply at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships. Deadline is Oct 25th but we know you will DO IT NOW! Read all the criteria to see if you are a true candidate.

Community Service Opportunities

Entre Nous is looking for volunteers who wish to earn community service hours. The Holiday Tour of Homes this year will be on December 1st and 2nd. There are four shifts available. Each shift is three and a half hours. Students will have to provide their own transportation and wear appropriate clothing for standing for long periods of time displaying a beautifully decorated home. Sign-up is at the Guidance Desk. Bring a blue community service form with you on the day you volunteer.
