The Pirate Battalion Drill team qualified 13 teams for the State Competition!
The 13 teams brought home the following awards and will compete at the
Florida State Drill Championship next weekend in Lakeland.

1st Place - Female Squad Armed - Commander Elizabeth Roig
1st Place - Female Squad Exhibition - Commander Amanda Brooks
2nd  Place - Female Platoon Armed - Commander Brittany Bowling
2nd  Place - Male Platoon Unarmed - Commander Hyung Cho
2nd  Place - Female Color Guard - Commander Amanda Brooks
2nd Place  - Female Dual Exhibition Team – Cadets Elizabeth Roig & Mercedes Ahier **
3rd Place - Male Squad Armed - Commander Michael Shephard
3rd  Place - Female Platoon Unarmed - Commander Allena Dubois
3rd  Place - Female Platoon Exhibition - Commander Amanda Brooks
3rd  Place - Male Platoon Armed - Commander Joe Mankowski
3rd  Place - Male Platoon Exhibition - Commander Chase Cournan
 
BRHS took home the 2nd Place Overall Trophy with a score of 59
just behind Palmetto HS who had a score of 60.
 
** Elizabeth Roig and Mercedes Ahier qualified as a Female Dual Exhibition Team
marking the first time any BRHS females have qualified in this category.

The Braden River High School Chapter of the National Honor Society will be issuing invitations 
for membership to qualified candidates no later than Wednesday, March 11, 2009.  Induction for new 
members will be Thursday, March 19, 2008, 6:00-8:00 pm.  A list of candidates invited will 
be posted on the school website on the same day invitations are issued.
Yearbooks - The last chance to order a yearbook this year will be March 2-6.  
Yearbooks are $75.00 and will be on sale at even lunches or in room 739.

On Sunday March 29, Take Stock in Children of Manatee County is presenting a 10K Run/Walk and Fun Run along Main Street Lakewood Ranch. 
Take Stock provides college scholarships for students graduating from the Manatee County School district. District employees and students are
encouraged to run, walk or participate in the one-mile Fun Run, or come out and cheer on race participants. Registration is just $20.00 for
district employees and $10.00 for students through March 23. Our own Superintendent of Schools Tim McGonegal has signed up as
Honorary Chair for the event and will participate in the race. Registration forms available in the office – sign up early and save!
