Prince Charming And Cinderella Project
bringing high school prom dreams to reality

The Manatee Education Foundation is kicking off a new project this year in conjunction
with the Suncoast for Kids Foundation and several other local businesses. We have
created the Prince Charming & Cinderella Project to help underprivileged students
to attend prom. We realize that a lot of students do not even consider prom due
to the expenses associated with the event. We will offer tuxedo rentals for
boys and dresses, shoes, accessories and even free beauty services
(hair, make-up, nails) for the girls. Click here for the application form.

I am the optometric assisting program instructor at MTI-East Campus. We have partnered
with Prevent Blindness Florida, a non-profit organization that facilitates vision screenings
and assisting in obtaining eye exams and prescription eyeglasses. Prevent Blindness is
having a local fundraiser "Light the Night for Sight" a walk and festival on Saturday,
March 28th at 2:30 at Greenbrook Adventure Park in Lakewood Ranch. My students
and I are putting together an education booth about different eye diseases and vision
loss with a few "vision loss" simulation activities. Having two high school students
myself, I know importance of volunteer hours. I would like to open this up for any
high school seniors or juniors as a volunteer opportunity. If you need any
additional information, please let me know. I am here at school until 3:30.
