Jacob Kargauer Awarded $1,000 Scholarship

Congratulations to Jacob Kargauer who received a $1,000 Marge Kinnan scholarship from the
Democratic Womens' Club of Manatee County. Jacob was our shining star Pirate at the fine
luncheon and awards celebration held at the Bradenton Country Club. Our thanks to
Pat Benson, President of the Democratic Womens' Club for recognizing this fine scholar.

Driver's Training Summer Class
Sorry - all spaces filled

The Driver's Education applications are now here.  You MUST download the application from our website and have
your child bring it in to Mrs. Zeris in Student Services. We will NOT accept e-mailed or faxed applications.  
This is a first-come first-serve basis.  The first 25 students that turn their application in will be in the program.  
They will know when they turn the application if they made it in or not.  We will not call or e-mail anyone to let them
know if they made it. This program is being offered to students who already have their Learners Permit.  

The students will receive .5 high school credit and a certificate of completion.

THE POWER OF CONVERSATION: LET’S TALK
BRINGS TEENS AND ADULTS TOGETHER

High school students across Manatee County and their parents are invited to share a free meal
and some candid conversation this Thursday evening, April 12, 2012, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at
Pirate City, located at 1701 27th St. E., in Bradenton. Sponsored by the Manatee County
Substance Abuse Coalition, the Healthy Teen Coalition of Manatee County, The Pittsburgh Pirates
and Bradenton Marauders and the Manatee Youth Commission – the purpose of this event is to
encourage and facilitate dialogue between teens and adults on important issues that are often
difficult to talk about. The program is titled: “The Power of Conversation: Let’s Talk.” The evening
will include an inspirational speaker, youth performers and prizes for all teens who bring an adult.
To reserve a meal, attendees must RSVP by tomorrow, Wednesday, April 11th. For more information,

Free FCAT Breakfast

The cafeteria will be serving free breakfast to ALL students
during FCAT testing days (4/16-4/17 & 4/19-4/20).
Breakfast will be served from 7:00-7:40 AM.
We encourage students to have a healthy breakfast
 every day and we hope that your son/daughter will be
able to join us for breakfast during FCAT testing.

TIme to Vote for the 2012 Florida Teen Read Book!

It is that time again!  Which book will win the Florida Teens Read Award?

and enter your vote now!

Voting closes April 30th.Teens must have read/or listened
to a minimum of three of the titles to be eligible to vote.

Grad Bash 2012 Meeting

Seniors who purchased tickets to Grad Bash for April 28th are required to attend
a mandatory meeting detailing important information regarding the event on
Wednesday, April 18th at 2:35 in the auditorium or Thursday, April 19th at 7:15 in
room 619.  Seniors who arrive late to either meeting will not be admitted. 
Permission slips are due not later than April 19th at 7:30.  Students who do not
attend a meeting or return a permission slip will not be allowed to attend
Grad Bash and will not receive a refund.

One Bay: Healthy Communities
Walk to the Moon Challenge

This Physical Activity Challenge kicks off a new, bold and inspirational
national initiative, called “The Race to a Healthy America.”
Inspired by the book, The New Health Age, the Walk to the Moon Challenge
wants to ignite enthusiasm for a healthier lifestyle leading
to a prolonged quality of life.

If you would like to be listed on our Scholars page just give Mrs. Zeris in
Student Services or Mr. Crumpler in room 706 a copy of your letter of
acceptance from the school or branch of service you are going to.
Please also include any total scholarship dollar amount you
have been awarded as we want recognize that honor too.

The Musical for the Theater Department will be School House Rocks Live!
Yes, this is all the music you know from the 70's cartoon, just set in modern day!
The students have been rehearsing very hard for many weeks
and we would love to have a huge audience to support our
students and performing arts in our community.

The performance dates are April 13th at 7:00 pm and April 14th at 2:00 pm
