Richard Platt - Manatee County's ACT Teacher of the Year for 2009
Congratulations to our very own Pirate Mr. Platt for his outstanding award from the School District's
Adult Career and Technical division as the 2009 award winner for Teacher Excellence.
Mr. Platt is most remarkable technology teacher with a long history of
going above and beyond for his students. We are honored to have
him here on the crewe of the Braden River High School faculty.

Parents - Please read this important message from the Manatee School District
concerning planning for any possible closing of the school due to swine flu.

TONIGHT -The Pirate's School Advisory Council, SAC, will meet at 6:30 pm
in the Pirates' Media Center. We hope you can attend and be involved.

Free Immunizations
On May 7th during school hours, the Health Department will be in our clinic to provide FREE Menactra vaccines for our seniors who may be interested.  
The Menactra vaccine is a requirement of many colleges in order for a student to live  on campus. The  Menactra  vaccine is given  to prevent 
meningococcal meningitis. Permission forms may be picked up in the clinic. Forms must be signed by parent  and returned to the clinic prior May 7th.   
Tetanus boosters and Hepatitis vaccines  will also be  offered for students who need to be up to date with required vaccines. 

The yearbook signing party will be May 14th.  If you purchase a signing party ticket for $2.00 you will be able to pick up your book early. 
If not we will begin distribution before 1st period  at 7:15am on Friday the 15th. We only have 90 books left if you want to reserve a book early
you can do so up until May 8th. The cost is $75.00 cash only. After May 8th the remainder of the books will be
sold for $85.00 at the signing party.  Stop by room 739 to reserve your copy.

Important - Due to budget cuts, there will be NO summer FCAT administration in 2009. 
Students may take the summer SAT or ACT to attempt to earn a concordant score.
