Pirates take in the Scholastic Press Convention 

Journalism & Yearbook students attended their first ever Florida Scholastic Press Association Convention April 28-30
in Orlando. Workshops provided a wealth of excellent educational experiences. Congratulations to Christie Childers
who was awarded a FSPA 1st place certificate for "Best Twitter Use". The Spyglass newspaper was awarded a
Silver for Newspaper Evaluation 2011.

The students are looking forward to putting into practice what they learned at the Convention.

Florida FFA is pleased to announce the selection of “Florida’s Finest” FFA Chapters. 
The selection of these chapters is based upon the completion of the National Chapter 
Award application. These chapters have excelled in the areas of student, chapter and 
community development and have worked hard to fulfill the mission of the FFA. 
One member and one advisor from each of these chapters will be recognized on the 
main stage during the 4th General Session of the 83rd Florida FFA Convention on 
Wednesday, June 15, 2011. In addition, each of these chapters will represent
Florida at the national level in the National Chapter Award Program.

The underclass awards and senior awards will be held:
Underclass Awards--Monday, May 16 at 9:00 a.m.
Senior Awards--Monday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m.
Both will be in the auditorium.

All children under the age of 18 can receive free breakfast and lunch this summer.
