Welcome to "The River"
Rated as an "A" school by the State of Florida for 2012

Pirate-of-the Day
Alan Ramos at the Temple of Heaven (Tian Tan) in Beijing, China
Alan Ramos, Assistant Principal, is beginning his first year at Braden River High School. Prior to transferring
to Braden River High School, he worked as an Assistant Principal at Southeast High School for three years.
Before moving to Manatee County, Mr. Ramos was a Director in the Division of K-12 Public Schools at the
Florida Department of Education; a Teaching American History Grant Coordinator/Curriculum Specialist,
a high school social studies teacher, and a middle school social studies and computer teacher
in the Broward County Public School District.

Recently, Mr. Ramos was one of 15 school administrators in the state of Florida selected to participate in the
2011 Chinese Bridge for American Schools Program sponsored by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters.
This week-long program in China helps educational leaders to start and strengthen their institution's Chinese
programs and partnerships. By participating in the Chinese Bridge for American Schools in June 2011, he had
the opportunity to visit primary and secondary schools in Tianjing and collected knowledge about the culture,
society and education system of China. He also had the opportunity to share experiences with school admin-
istrators from all over the U.S. as well as Chinese educators. Mr. Ramos hopes to share his experiences with
students and educators, and someday develop a partnership with a sister school in Tianjing, China that will
lead to educational enrichment opportunities (in China) for students enrolled in Chinese classes here at
Braden River High School. Mr. Ramos was born in Miami, Florida. He attended Florida International
University, Nova Southeastern University, and Florida State University.
