Tampa Bay Thunder Finalists

These current and former Braden River students participated all summer in a Drum and Bugle Corps
called the Tampa Bay Thunder. These students performed shows all summer throughout the East
coast of the United States. They also gave up most of their summer break to rehearse and perform
with this group. Their finals competition was held in Rochester, NY on Labor Day weekend. The
Tampa Bay Thunder was the only group to represent the state of Florida and finished 10^th
making them a finalist. Corps from all over the United States and Canada competed and
these students made history by being the first, first-year corps to make finals from the state
of Florida. Braden River High School had 16 students participate in this group which was
by far the most of any high school in the state.

Join the Pirate Family at the 9th Annual Manatee Glens Walk for Life starting at 7:30 am
on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Sutton Park, 1025 6th Street West, Palmetto, FL 34221.
We will walk 5k to raise awareness about depression and to prevent suicide. You will be thrilled
to be part of the excitement and part of the solution. All funds raised help families in crisis with
mental health and addiction services at Manatee Glens. Receive a free Manatee Glens Walk
for Life T-shirt and a picnic lunch at the event. Warm up to a live DJ and then walk across the
Green Bridge over the scenic Manatee River. Be part of an inspiring and moving butterfly
release. Manatee Educational Television films the entire event. Join us!

Registering online will save you time the morning of the walk.

More information will be provided at a meeting in the Media Center on September 13th

Which College Is For You ?

If you have questions about college one of the best ways to get
answers is from the people that will be here from that college.

If you are a Junior or Senior and would like to attend one or more of these
information sessions, please sign up with Mrs. Gionfriddo in Room 118B
(Attendance Area) no later than the day before the visit.

Senior Pictures

Any senior who has not had a Senior Picture taken must see Miss Reid in Room 739 before
or after school Sept. 19th through the 23rd. Any senior who has not signed up for a Senior
Picture by Friday, September 23rd will not have a picture in the Senior Section of this
year's yearbook. The sitting fee is $20.00, cash only, and must be paid at the time
the appointment is made. There are no other Senior Pictures
scheduled for this year. This is your last chance.

SAT Prep Class

There is a class coming up that will help you to prepare for the SAT examination.
It will be held at Cardinal Mooney High in Sarasota and costs $75.00.

Yearbooks will be on sale
Yearbooks will be on sale at Back-To-School Night, September 14th, and before school and during lunch
on the 15th and 16th for $60.00. This is the only time yearbooks will be available for this price. You can
also order online at www.yearbookordercenter.com (a $3.50 service fee is added for online orders).
Use order #1636 and enter the student's English teacher as the Homeroom teacher.
Get an order form from your English teacher.

THE EDVANTAGE AWARDS

I am pleased to announce the EdVantage Education Awards,
which will take place on February 29, 2012!

This exciting event will honor both our District's educator and support staff.
The winners in both categories will then advance to the state
(and possibly even national) level.

Anyone (including business partners, parents, students, and other members of the community)
can nominate outstanding individuals for educator or support recognition...or both!
Nomination forms, eligibility, selection criteria, and other valuable information
are available on the EdVantage Education Awards website at:
