French

Club Description: French club is mainly for the members of the French classes at LRHS. We learn about, promote, and celebrate the French culture. We have several celebrations, one of which is French week which takes place in November. This is an exciting and busy year for us due to our French exchange. Our students will be arriving in late February so when you see them say Bonjour!

Planned Events: We plan to go to Congrès in March of this year. Congrès is a state wide French competition for FLorida High School students. We compete in individual competitions, lecture, discours, declamation, and vocabulaire, as well as some group events, scénette,l'album and pièce de théãtre. We will also be doing the exchange this year in February with Lycée Saint Louis, a high school in Brittany.

Community Service Events: We have a volunteer program at McNeal Elementary School on Mondays in which we teach fourth and fifth graders French. One of our biggest events of the year was our New Orlenas Fundraising Drive. We spent two weeks in the cafeteria raising money for Hurricane Katrina victims. We raised approximately $300.
