Team Sports is an activity class, and the grade will be based on participation. In order to participate, students are issued locks and lockers, and are required to change from their school clothes. Phys. Ed. clothes must be appropriate and follow the county’s code of conduct (pp.10-11). After the third non-dress in a grading period, an automatic failure is assigned.
Students are required to be in class everyday, to stay on task, and to participate all period. Sitting out, stopping early, or standing around will result in loss of participation points which lowers the quarter grade. Also, if a teacher has to get your attention for goofing around, horseplay, profanity, or other disruptive behavior, your grade will be lowered and you will be given an appropriate consequence (lunch detention, time-out, or Saturday school). Fighting will result in a referral/suspension with a 3 in conduct.
It is the student’s responsibility to verify excused absences with the teacher and to turn in make-up work within two days of returning to school. In order to make-up participation credit for excused absences, a written report must be completed for each day absent (this includes Time-Out). Each assignment must be at least one page and can be written on any sports, fitness, health, nutrition, or recreation topic. Skipping class will result in a 3 in conduct and a referral, no make-up work will be allowed, and your grade will be lowered for the quarter.
If an injury occurs during class, please notify the instructor. This is important for treatment and for documentation if the injury worsens.
Most importantly, let’s play and have fun!!!
