High School Eligibility
FHSAA rules stipulate in order to participate in a sport you must have a cumulative unweighted grade point average of 2.0 or higher. Eligibility status may change at the end of a semester if your overall GPA changes. Students have four consecutive years of eligibility once they enter the 9th grade. Students are also required to have a physical exam, purchase the mandatory athletic insurance and have a resident affidavit on file. Contact the PHS Athletic Director, Kenneth Ansbro (941) 723-4848, ext. 2005, for more information.
NCAA Collegiate Eligibility
Students wishing to participate in college athletics should realize that entry requirements into colleges and universities are more difficult than the basic requirements of a high school diploma. Prospective college-bound student-athletes should contact their guidance counselor for course requirements and register with the NCAA Clearinghouse at the start of their senior year of high school.
