Athletic Eligibility
High School Eligibility
FHSAA rules stipulate in order to participate in a sport you must have a cumulative unweighted grade point average of 2.0 or higher. Eligibility status may change at the end of a semester if your overall GPA changes. Students have four consecutive years of eligibility once they enter the 9th grade. Students are also required to have a physical exam, purchase the mandatory athletic insurance and have a resident affidavit on file. Contact the PHS Athletic Director, Kenneth Ansbro (941) 723-4848, ext. 2005, for more information.NCAA Collegiate Eligibility
Students wishing to participate in college athletics should realize that entry requirements into colleges and universities are more difficult than the basic requirements of a high school diploma. Prospective college-bound student-athletes should contact their guidance counselor for course requirements and register with the NCAA Clearinghouse at the start of their senior year of high school.Print out ALL forms BELOW (if you plan to participate in athletics at Palmetto High School):
