Career Technology Education (CTE) programs are available at Southeast High School: Agriscience, Business Education, Construction (VPA), Culinary Arts, and Television Production (ECC), 3D Animation (ECC), and Digital Video Production (ECC).

Agriscience, Business, and Consumer Sciences have combined to create a small learning community, known as ABC. The ABC Academy’s mission is to provide students the opportunity to explore their occupational interests while receiving job training that will ready them for work or college.

Statistics show that ten years after graduation, the highest level of education for over 60% of students nationwide is the high school diploma. For Manatee County’s students, the rate is 72% with only 28% completing college. For this reason students are encouraged to complete a CTE program prior to graduation to compliment their goal of post-secondary education. The ABC Academy offers training for what the U.S. Department of Labor projects will be over 27 million jobs in the year 2016.

The ABC Academy’s Goals

Students will:

• Be encouraged to complete a career technology program.
• Be encouraged to explore one or more careers in depth (research capstone project, job shadowing, career trips, Career Technology Student Organization {CTSO}, etc.)
• Be encouraged to improve their grades and coursework to their highest ability.
• Develop marketable skills for entering the workforce after high school and/or pursuing a college career.
• Be encouraged to increase academic success though integrated lesson plans and/or team teaching of select units.
• Be assisted in setting personal academic goals and be provided post-secondary career and educational guidance through counseling and mentoring by faculty members.

All of Southeast’s career programs have active career & technology student organizations (CTSO’s) that compete at district and state levels. 

• The FFA program has been ranked as one of the top ten clubs in the nation for several years with students competing at nationals in Land Judging. 
• FCCLA students have ranked at the state and national levels.
• Culinary students in SkillsUSA compete annually at states as well as local student and business-sponsored competitions.
• Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) consistently has the top rated district club whose members compete at the state level annually. State winners have including individuals competing in Accounting, Business Law, C++, and E-Business.
• Culinary and Business students can complete industry certifications in their areas of study.
