Attendance

• Students are allowed 9 excused absences per year; after that, official documentation is required for every additional absence (Doctors note, court paperwork, etc).

• Parents have 48 hrs after an absence to call it in, otherwise it will be unexcused unless documentation is given. See Above.

• Excused absences are: you are ill or injured, major illness in immediate family, death in immediate family, religious reasons which requires a note from your parent before the absence, subpoena, doctors/dentist appt with documentation, and lice.

• Five unexcused absences in 1 month or 15 unexcused absences in a 90 day period may result in a referral to truancy court.

• An excused tardy would be a medical/dental appointment with documentation or court date with documentation. Elementary students - parents must accompany student to the office, if not, it will be unexcused.

• Unexcused tardies are, but not limited to, oversleeping, missing the bus, car trouble or any tardy without proper documentation.

• Every 3 unexcused tardies within a grading period count as 1 unexcused absence. Five unexcused absences in 1 month or 15 unexcused absences in a 90 day calendar period may result in Truancy Court for parent/student.

• To be considered present for the day, you must be in attendance for at least half of the school day.

• Leaving School Early - Every 3 unexcused early dismissals within a grading period will count as 1 unexcused absence. Five unexcused absences in 1 month or 15 unexcused absences in a 90 day calendar period may result in Truancy Court for parent/student.

• You will lose your driver's license or privilege of applying for any driver's license, if you are not enrolled or do not attend school regularly.

• Students who are withdrawn as dropouts or who have accumulated 15 unexcused absences in 90 calendar days will lose the privilege to apply for or hold a Florida Driver's License.
