State Certification

A valid teaching certificate is required under Florida law for all instructors. Securing and updating the certificate is the responsibility of the teacher. Please contact us to obtain a certificate form. Our staff is here to provide you with guidance to fulfill the requirements and complete all procedures.

For Critical Teacher shortage information, contact the Bureau of Student Financial Assistance. The Florida Department of Education has additional information on employment, certification, and certification requirements by subject. The state of Florida does honor National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification.

Once you become an instructional employee of the School Board of Manatee County, all verifications, documents, official transcripts, etc. must be submitted through the District Certification Office. Please do not send information directly to the Department of Education.

Substitute Teaching

To become a substitute teacher you must first apply on line and fufill the application requirements. Once you become "qualified" in the PATS (Paperless Applicant Tracking System) you will need to complete the next steps.

Substitutes will use our "Smartfind" system to get jobs. You will not receive a PIN for this system until you have attended training.
