The Library/Media Services Department (LMS) provides high quality service and support to school library/media specialists and their programs. This department serves as a liaison between the media specialists and other support departments, schools, outside vendors, and counties with an ultimate goal of excellence in education.
Services are provided for all Manatee County media specialists and media centers. The LMS organizes trainings and supports the library software, policies and procedures used in all Manatee County schools. When cataloging for library materials is not supplied by the vendor, the LMS receives, catalogs, and processes the items for all schools.
The LMS is responsible for the maintenance and management of the district’s 614,386 library material titles in the Destiny Library Manager Database. Destiny is an entirely browser-based solution, and centralizes the database. This reduces the cost of equipment and maintenance, and also gives each user access to the entire district’s library/media data and resources.
