The vision for Louise R. Johnson Middle School is to become a premier International Baccalaurate (IB) School. We pride ourselves on maintaining a high level of respect among staff and students. For the 2010-2011 school year, we at Johnson continue our implementation of a behavior management plan called SOAR which is designed to foster a climate of cooperation, academic excellence, respect and safety at Johnson Middle School.
SOAR stands for:
Stay Focused
Organized
Act Responsibility
Respect All
Our plan makes use of effective instructional strategies, consistent correctional procedures, logical consequences and positive reinforcement to teach students to become IB Learners with the skills and behaviors necessary to succeed now and in the future. We infuse this plan into all aspects of student life at JMS.
We expect all students to adhere to school-wide rules and procedures – including the classrooms, cafeteria, hallways and restrooms.
Please review the JMS Student Handbook with your child and spend some family time discussing the various aspects of Johnson’s behavior plan. It is especially important that you talk to your child about the key concepts of the program:
Stay Focused, Organized, Act Responsibility and Respect All.
With your continued support and involvement, there is no question that Johnson Middle School of International Studies will continue to be a school where students can excel in a safe, respectful and cooperative learning environment.
Sincerely,
Omar Edwards,
Principal
