David Stinnette - A Master Boat Builder
David Stinnette, a seasoned and very experienced master boat builder, approached MTI with a desire to teach his skills and share his expertise with others. He sought to design and offer a program that helped all those interested to be able to get hands on training in the latest techniques in boat building. His training stretches from wood boat building to the latest in fiberglass boat building.
Mr. Stinnette has been working in the boat building industry for more than 30 years. Much of his early years of work included building and supervising the building of some grand sailboats, including the Gulfstar Yachts Gulfstar40 and Gulfstar60 and Gulfstar80. His managing of the building process of the Gulfstar 60 landed his crew with the lead cover story in Yacht Magazine in 1980. Gulfstar Inc. boasted the production of the largest production model sailboat when it produced the Gulfstar 80. This boat included 5 double staterooms with beds and bathrooms, as well as a mid-ship salon, entertainment center, dinette, and laundry center.

As his career continued the industry traversed many changes, including the rising demand of motor powered yachts and the use of newer technologies. He proudly took part in the continued success of Gulfstar Inc. and his continued love for boat building led him to take part in the restoration of the "Karol K", a 110 foot Italian Yacht. His work on the "MorningStar" Yacht was one of the first boat building projects to take on some of the materials and methods from Aircraft Composite Construction to maximize strength to weight ratio. This new method helped the "MorningStar" to win the Southern Ocean Racing Circuit class A and best overall yacht awards.

As Mr. Stinnette has weathered many storms in his life, he continues to have a deep passion for the boat building craft and is excited to be sharing his knowledge and experience with others.
